A $1.5 Million Fundraising Commitment for Cancer Care Support

In 2024, the Chalmers Foundation launched a $1.5 million initiative to expand the Cancer Support Program which provides free and accessible community-based support for those with lived cancer experience and their caregivers. Our program is finding a home in a new community centre located in Fredericton, New Brunswick

Why Community Support Makes a Difference

The Cancer Support Program addresses the emotional, social, physical, and practical challenges of those facing cancer through offerings of exercise & movement, education & self-development, symptom management, and peer support programs.

Programs that empower individuals on their cancer journey by offering the information, strategies, and tools to help them live better with cancer.
Helps manage the various symptoms of cancer and its treatments, which can impact daily activities and overall quality of life for those affected by cancer.
Through peer support, individuals can share their feelings and concerns in a confidential space with others who have similar experiences.
Aids in minimizing the negative side effects of cancer treatments and can also improve quality of life and help individuals maintain their independence.
